Si bien técnicamente son los Oscars 2018 (porque se premian las películas lanzadas en USA en ese año), las nominadas al Oscar del 2019 fueron anunciadas. Llegó el día más esperado por la cinefilia y la industria cinematográfica a nivel mundial. Los Academy Awards serán entregados el domingo 24 de febrero como siempre en la ciudad de Los Angeles, a modo de finalización de una extensa temporada de premios. Se transmitirá en vivo en Latinoamérica a través de TNT a partir de las 22 hs.
La ceremonia por primera vez en 30 años no tendrá host, luego de que una polémica se reflotara sobre Kevin Hart que fue anunciado como host y posteriormente despedido, por tweets homofóbicos realizados años atrás. La corrección política llegó para quedarse, y al menos desde acá la recibimos de brazos abiertos. Entonces, ¿cómo hará la academia para llevar adelante una ceremonia sin host? Tienen elegidas a varias estrellas que oficiarán de conductores y conductoras a lo largo de la noche, y de allí también se desprenden las peleas entre la Academia y algunos sindicatos y con los Critics Choice y los Golden Globes, ya que a cada presentador/ra le pidieron exclusividad para la ceremonia de los Oscars, es decir que no podían aparecer en ninguna otra premiación. ¿Cómo será resuelta esa situación? Nadie sabe y la realidad es que a pocos les interesa, sólo a quienes dirigen las agencias representantes de actores y actrices.
Las verdaderas novedades sobre la ceremonia de este año vienen por otro lado: una nueva categoría, la de Mejor Película Popular, categorías que no tendrán el anuncio dentro de la transmisión (se especula que algunas técnicas o las concernientes a la no-ficción quedarán fuera de la transmisión en vivo), y un recorte en al duración total de la ceremonia. La Academia parece estar intentando actualizarse y agiornarse, y ser un evento televisivo más ameno a la audiencia mundial, para frenar la caída en visionado que viene teniendo año tras año.
